The study was designed to examine the effectiveness of sports and fitness activities on well-being of school children at elementary level in Islamabad. The research was descriptive and quantitative in nature. All the students at secondary level of public sector in Islamabad. All model schools constituted as the population of the study. A total n= 350 students from 40 schools in Islamabad were selected through random sampling technique. One self-developed structured questionnaire was used from gathering information from students. Descriptive statistics i. e., mean, standard deviation and inferential statistics i.e., non- parametric chi square test were employed for statistical analysis of the data through SPSS. The findings revealed that sport and fitness activities are very effective for students at elementary level. Schools have been generally seen as environment where physical activity can be facilitated and promoted. It enhances the recreational involvement, physical fitness, mental well- being, academic benefits and interpersonal and group benefits. Non- parametric chi square test analysis shows that there is significant effect between physical activities are very effective for overall development of every student. Based on findings, it was recommended that provide opportunities for both sports instructor and learner to enhance the knowledge and awareness about the effectiveness of participation in physical activities for students.

The well-being and quality of life of students in the Pakistan today are of increasing concern. Sports and fitness activities play a great role in student’s life as it keeps them healthy, wealthy and active. When they have a healthy body great achievements come on way when students maintain their physical and mental well-being. It helps students to improve and maintain physical ability and skills. Schools have generally been seen as environment where physical activity can be facilitated and promoted. Mostly Schools offer programs and facilities that encourage participation in recreational sports, physical activity, and overall physical health. This study will design to survey the relationship between recreational sports involvement, satisfaction, physical health and well-being, and academic benefits interpersonal and group benefits of involvement and the importance of sports and fitness activities after elementary school level ………
2. Literature Review
2.1 Recreational Activities and Satisfaction with Recreational Activities
Recreational sports are called sport for all and are done for several purposes, but main purpose is for fun and entertainment in free time. National Physical Activity Plan (2010) defined that an increasing number of people are becoming health conscious and do recreational sport activities and various keep fit to maintain or improve their physical as well as mental fitness and health, to affect their flexibility, to strengthen their muscles and shape the body, etc. Some people want to learn new skills or experience new feelings through sport activities. Some people might have social reasons for their participation in sport including the need of addition, friendship, team work, support, acknowledgment etc. According to Downs (2003) leisure is a self-development instrument that includes physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social benefits. The organized development of recreation programs to meet a variety of bodily, psychologically, and social needs has led to recreation playing a role as a social tool for well-being.
Karaküçük S (2008) stated that recreational activities actually referred to the period of leisure time where there is child control without any external pressure, fun, happiness is experienced; nonpayment is received. Using this period of time correctly and efficiently has many positive influences on students ………
3. Materials and Methods
The main purpose of the present research was to examine the effectiveness of sports and fitness activities on well-being of school children. The target population of the study was all students of Islamabad Model School for girls and Boys.
3.2 Research Design and Instrument
The study was qualitative and quantitative that was design to examine the effectiveness of sports and fitness activities on well-being of school children. After going to the relevant literature, one structured questionnaire was developed for students for collecting the data for this study. The instrument was divided into broad categories i.e., recreational activities, physical health and well- being, academic benefits, interpersonal and social benefits. The instrument was design on five point Likert scale i.e., Strongly Agree, Agree, Undecided, Not Agree, Strongly Disagree and were scored as 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 respectively. The questionnaire was contained in 30 items.
3.3 Pilot Testing, Validity and Reliability
In order to get authentic and precise outcomes, it was properly review by the panel of experts of the relevant field having extra ordinary experience. The instrument was validate with respect to face validity, content validity and criterion ………
